The Planning Office for Urban Affairs works to address the tragedy of homelessness in Massachusetts in several important ways, from advocating for additional resources and programs for permanent housing for the homeless, to forming partnerships to build new, housing for those living in shelters or on the streets. With the challenging economic situation gripping our country today, and the number of homeless families and individuals living in hotels and motels, this work is becoming increasingly critical. As part of that effort, the Office has engaged in the following initiatives:
